Formative Assessment
The formative assessment was an eye opening experience as it highlighted specific areas of my part in the project that needed rethinking. The fact that I needed to include a more unique selling point that would convince users to download 'Walkable' over it's competitors such as Google Maps. Also, I must rethink the working logo in order for use with other City underground rail networks (such as Paris/Madrid etc).
Monday
Using The Application
Open the app, takes you to the home screen, from there you choose your starting location by choosing: 1/Your current location, 2/An underground station, 3/A tourist attraction, 4/Search by typing in a location or 5/ Selecting one of your saved 'favourites'. After you've done that you do the same for your destination, giving you a massive spread of different locations to go to/from rather than just a tube stop (because tourists might not know what tube stop an attraction is at for example). After youve chosen your journey, the app then gives you a list of places to visit along the way (coffee/food/types of shops etc), you can select as many as you like or none at all. The app then calculates the route and displays it on google maps with markers for anything youve chosen to visit along the way. Using GPS, the app moves the little 'green man' logo in realtime to your movements, so you always know where you are. Once you've reached your destination, the app gives you the chance to save the journey as a favourite or to use the destination as a starting location for your next journey. You can then access the favourites from the home screen/begin a new journey.
Logo Ideas
I felt that using the internationally renowned symbol of the 'green man' as a logo for the group's project 'Walkable' presented the ideals that we aimed to convey.
